In celebration of the 150 year anniversary of the Civil War, Smithsonian Magazine has published a fun quiz that allows you to vote for the Best Civil War Facial Har.

As of the time of this writing, Major General Ambrose Burnside, for whom Sideburns are named after, is running away with the voting with some 11,500 votes! His nearest competitor is currently J.E.B. Stuart, a Confederate General who fought at Gettysburg, among other battles.

Clearly, the mid 1800’s was the definitive┬árenaissance period for facial hair in America.
