I loves me a jQuery based expandable navigation area!

NPR.org makes fine use of jQuery in providing users with 1-click breadth of site options.

Clicking the ‘Programs’ tab in the global navigation area displays a well designed index, providing links to the most popular shows. This is done using JavaScript to in essence make the content area of the page push down – giving the user a sense that the expanded content always lived in the Programs ‘drawer.’

NPR did a video showing one of their Radio personalities test-drive the site. They have also written up a nice piece to introduce things.
