Operation Adagio – Lunch With My Wife

I had lunch w/ my wife today and already I feel things getting a little slower in my life.

I periodically freak out at how quickly life moves by – seemingly with little taken out of it on my part. I often feel as though I blink and another month or six weeks or a winter or even a year has gone bye and I have few if any meaningful memories of the time period in question. It saddens me a bit.

I live in Jackson, MS which by all accounts is a pretty¬†lackadaisical¬†locale. I have little traffic issues, I live relatively close to work, and I’m not involved in a ton of extracurriculars. Yet, I still manage to feel so rushed and discombobulated at times, I might as well be living in New York City.

I mentioned this to Alice, my wife, last night and she suggested we have lunch today. We did. We met at The Beagle Bagel Cafe and had an alfresco lunch outside and enjoyed each other’s company, talked about the weekend and plans to visit my family in November. We laughed a bit and shared our food and I felt great having done so.

Operation Adagio has commenced.

You are my best friend. I am so grateful that you are in my life and that I wrangled you into being my husband. Spending the rest of my life with you not only excites me, it relieves me. I love you Mr. Rubinoff. your wife
