Hurricanes Face Cal In Emerald Bowl Tonight

A UM win would mark 2008 as huge leap forward.

Cliche as it may be, the 2008 University of Miami football season has been one of ups and downs. The early loss to the Gators hurt, but it showed the UM defence could stymie a returning Heisman trophy winner. Then came some wins and as the season progressed, Miami found itself with a chance at clinching the Atlantic division of the ACC conference and a possible trip to the Orange Bowl come January. Successive losses to Georgia Tech and a hungry NC State Wolfpack squad brought the Canes’ regular season record to an above average 7-5.

A quick perusal of some of the more popular sport sites reveals that everyone is picking Cal to beat the Canes. Cal has an explosive running back and this was Miami’s downfall in both the GT and NCState games. UM starting QB, Robert Marve (who espn commentator pronounced as ‘mar-vay’ lol) is suspended after not abiding by team rules – missing or being late for 4+ classes. Jacory Harris is getting the start. Whatever the result tonight, The U can look back at this season with a sense of accomplishment having a winning season and getting the program back on the college football map.

Go Canes!!!
